Sambotta and Mani Class
The Mani group at Namgyal Jyangchub Choeling Monastery is a large and very active group who perform Mani prayers at funerals and as requested throughout the Kathmandu Valley and outside. They also regularly chant Mani prayers at the monastery on Full moon and New moon days.
Their vision is to practice the pure Dharma well and be a good support to those who need their assistance. The group is active too, in helping those in need. They organize and sponsor pujas for them as well as raising funds for worthwhile causes.
Before anyone can become a member of the group they must take the five Lay Vows and the Chenrezig Wang, Lung and Thii from Rinpoche. They must also make it a life-time practice to do prostrations, mandala offerings and other types of offering and be patient, kind, generous, reliable and respectful.
Over the last year the group has expanded to over 100 members. They meet once a month on the first Saturday to discuss and plan for the coming month and any other issues that arise. Apart from the Mani Group at NJC Monastery there are very large and active groups at the Chorten Tashi Tamang Gompa in Nayabasti near Boudha, Jorpati and in other places in Nepal such as Hetauda, Termahal, Narayanthan and Sarlahi.
